Wanted! People for development cooperation projects!

23.3.2016

Finnish NGO WaterFinns implements water related development cooperation projects. We are going to apply funding for five new projects from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. Now we’re looking for people to join us to implement these projects. We are also looking people for our various working groups and project support groups.

Currently, we are looking people for the following roles:

Junior Project Manager, 3 persons:

Target countries: Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal

Description: Junior Project Manager coordinates and is responsible of the project. Junior does not need to be experienced on development cooperation field: WaterFinns wants to offer young professionals an opportunity to get to know and gain experience from development cooperation projects and project management.

2nd Junior project manager, 4 persons:

Target countries: Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Vietnam

Description: 2nd Junior helps the head Junior in implementing the project. 2nd Junior can for example be responsible on one element of the project. The role of the 2nd Junior will be decided at the beginning of the project.

Senior Advisor, 4 persons:

Target countries: Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Vietnam

Description: A Senior works as Junior's mentor and has experience in international development cooperation projects, and also time to guide the junior through the implementation of the project. Seniors can also work together with other senior and this way share responsibilities.

---

We appreciate an enthusiastic attitude and also commitment to the project. We hope that you could participate in implementing the project from it’s the beginning to the end. Our projects typically last for about 3 years and their coordination is managed from Finland. The local partner organization implements the project in the target country. During the project, the project personnel visits the target country on an on-site monitoring trip, that takes about one week 1-2 times a year. Please note that WaterFinns works on a voluntary basis, and we can not pay salary, but e.g. monitoring trips are included in the project costs.

Planned projects have already been prepared in advance for the last year's fund application round, that was cancelled. Now, however, the applications must be modified and adapted to fit the new criteria for development targets of the Finnish Government. The plan is to apply funding for the two projects that continue the soon to be finished projects: the hand wash with soap project in Vietnam, and the NAPA WASH-project in Nepal, and also three completely new projects in Tanzania, Nepal and Kyrgyzstan. Find out more on the current WaterFinns projects here: http://waterfinns.fi/#projects

Each project also has a project support group that supports the junior in the implementation of the project, offering their opinions and expertise. The strengths of the project support group members may be, for example, knowledge of the target country, knowledge of development cooperation work, communications, or financial management expertise. Even persons who are inexperienced but interested in developing cooperation are welcome: project support group will also be a good place to learn about the project management of development projects.
